Steef van Lent (Dordrecht, the Netherlands, 1984) studied AudioVisualDesign/Fine Arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and graduated in 2007. He currently lives and works in Amsterdam.

Through perfomances, some private some public, Steef van Lent studies the workings of the human body, and how we perceive the world around us. In his work he is always looking to keep things to their bare essentials. In doing so he uses a wide variety of mediums, ranging from video installations to drawings to photography,  in accordance with the premise of his works.

For Breakers Steef van Lent is working with language. Language, or rather speech, consists of sounds that have no direct relation to their meaning. Words are translated by the mind into information based on set rules. What happens when we ignore these rules, and disconnect sounds from their agreed upon interpretations?
